Dune
Dune is a work about our depleating sand dunes and how the recent weather conditions and manmade infrastructure have contributed towards their destruction. Our current beaches and dunes were established 7000 years ago when we had a shift in sea levels. It took thousands of years for the debris from volcanic eruptions and sediment from rivers to be pushed up by the rising sea and waves to create our beaches, sand reserves and dunes (Shoreline changes 24). I have witnessed the current weather devastation in which the thousands of years of dunes’ formation diminish over hours, and this made me start my repetitive process of building up a life sized scarped dune through tufting.
